We are a Benefit Restaurant®

YES, WE’RE KEEPING SCORE: We, from September 2009 through April 2013, have distributed to local, regional, national, and international nonprofits more than $223,000! Click here to see where we’ve given.

Beginning on September 1, 2009 we committed The Elephant Walk in Waltham to the Benefit Restaurant® Project. A Benefit Restaurant® selects a non-profit whose mission is fighting an aspect of poverty each month to receive a percentage of its sales for that month. Accordingly, The Elephant Walk in Waltham has committed and distributed three percent [3%] of its sales to a poverty fighting nonprofit organization.

Of course, we get asked regularly to assist nonprofit organizations doing excellent and important work in a great many different fields of charitable endeavor. Although all twelve months of the year are already committed, we created the Monday Benefit Dinner program as a way to say “Yes!” to the question: “Can you help us?” – We encourage you to consider hosting a Monday Benefit Dinner at The Elephant Walk in Waltham to raise money for a cause that matters to you.

Bob Perry, co-founder of The Elephant Walk and owner of The Elephant Walk in Waltham, first envisioned the Benefit Restaurant® concept in 2001. Bob sees it as a new model of corporate philanthropy – truly Sustainable Giving, that…

  • commits a long-term, continuous flow of business funds toward the common good,
  • keeps the business focused on its day-to-day mission of serving good food well,
  • engages [informs, educates, rewards] a donor base [restaurant guests] in a low-key way [no solicitation involved],
  • energizes and incentivizes the beneficiaries to help get the word out through their ordinary and established channels,
  • costs the beneficiaries nothing for the benefit.

The goal is a frictionless, virtuous circle. We believe a Benefit Restaurant® achieves that goal.
